Self Portraits

Self portraiture has been such a valuable tool to hone my painting and drawing skills over the years. It is also a useful way to show progression throughout my developmental journey. For instance, discovering short hand for certain details that would have been laborious in previous works. Detail economy has become more essential to my practice.

My brush and mark making has become more visible over the years. I prefer seeing the human aspect within art. I like to see the thought process and reasoning behind the marks on the surface. I want to see the organic nature of the interlocking shapes and colours on the canvas or page.
